Funding

WIOA- Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act

This is state funding available in each state for students who qualify with them. The funding amounts that each state is able to offer varies from state to state and also from county to county. Some states and/or counties are able to offer more or less than others. North American Lineman Training Center (NALTC) has to be on your state’s list of providers in order for you to be able to use funds to come to school at NALTC. We are currently on several states’ vendor list, but if we are not, then it is usually just an application NALTC would have to fill out and be approved for before WIOA (Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act) counselors would be able to assist you.

*Call us at 931-582-4161 to confirm that NALTC accepts WIOA funding from your state.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you were to apply for WIOA funding and still use one of NALTC’s lenders referred to on our website, it is important that you understand that any grant given to NALTC on your behalf will go to satisfy any lesser amount the lender pays NALTC first before a refund is granted to the student.  Please call if you have questions about this policy.

Veterans Using VA Benefits

We are pleased to announce that NALTC is now approved for Veterans who want to use their educational benefits under the GI BILL®.

Once you are enrolled at North American Lineman Training Center, you will need to apply for your benefits online at https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/  in order to receive your Certificate of Eligibility (COE). This document will tell you what education benefits you are approved for, and at what percentage amount. You will need to get a copy of this document sent to the school you are trying to attend so that the School’s Certifying Official (SCO) will be able to certify your enrollment, asap.  Don’t forget to also send us copies of your DD-214 and Joint Services Transcript.

Veterans using their benefits must also self-certify monthly.

Please feel free to call 931-582-4161 for further assistance.

*If using VA benefits, you need to send in:

  • $100 Application fee
  • $500 Housing deposit (If needed)
  • Application packet (Everything on the checklist)
  • Copies of Certificate of Eligibility, DD-214, any college/trade school transcripts (before or after military service), and Joint Services Transcript

A few things to keep in mind:

  • The VA will not pay the initial cost of $975 to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). You will be responsible for this payment before your test. However, once you pass your road test and receive your license, then you can request reimbursement from the VA.
  • Housing deposit and housing fee is your responsibility to pay. The deposit and application need to be submitted together and the remaining $2,000 will be due the weekend that you move into housing. You will start receiving BAH roughly one month after classes begin, if eligible.
  • Not everyone is covered 100% by the VA. Each student is responsible for paying any fees to the school and/or landlords that were not paid through the GI Bill®. Any outstanding balance must be paid in full before the first day of the semester.

Any covered individual will be able to attend or participate in the course of education during the period beginning on the date on which the individual provides to the educational institution a certificate of eligibility for entitlement to educational assistance under chapter 31 or 33 (a “certificate of eligibility” can also include a “Statement of Benefits” obtained from the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) website – eBenefits, or a VAF 28-1905 form for chapter 31 authorization purposes) and ending on the earlier of the following dates:

1.  The date on which payment from VA is made to the institution.

2.  90 days after the date the institution certified tuition and fees following the receipt of the certificate of eligibility.

North American Lineman Training Center will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds, on any covered individual because of the individual’s inability to meet his or her financial obligations to the institution due to the delayed disbursement funding from VA under chapter 31 or 33.

Personal Loans

NALTC is authorized for operation as a postsecondary education institution by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
