Veterans Using VA Benefits

We are pleased to announce that NALTC is now approved for Veterans who want to use their educational benefits under the GI BILL®.

Once you are enrolled at North American Lineman Training Center, you will need to apply for your benefits online at https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/ in order to receive your Certificate of Eligibility (COE). This document will tell you what education benefits you are approved for, and at what percentage amount. You will need to get a copy of this document sent to the school you are trying to attend so that the School’s Certifying Official (SCO) will be able to certify your enrollment, asap. Don’t forget to also send us copies of your DD-214 and Joint Services Transcript.

Veterans using their benefits must also self-certify monthly.

Please feel free to call 931-582-4161 for further assistance.

IF USING VA BENEFITS, YOU NEED TO SEND IN:

  • $100 Application fee
  • $500 Housing deposit (If needed)
  • Application packet (Everything on the checklist)
  • Copies of Certificate of Eligibility, DD-214, any college/trade school transcripts (before or after military service), and Joint Services Transcript

A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

  • The VA will not pay the initial cost of $1,925 to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). You will be responsible for this payment before your test.
  • Housing deposit and housing fee is your responsibility to pay. The deposit and application need to be submitted together and the remaining $2,250 will be due the weekend that you move into housing. You will start receiving BAH roughly one month after classes begin, if eligible.
  • Not everyone is covered 100% by the VA. Each student is responsible for paying any fees to the school and/or landlords that were not paid through the GI Bill®. Any outstanding balance must be paid in full before the first day of the semester.
